Difference in Adaptation[]

  • Chapter 15 begins with Gackto running into Sara's room, as her servant Bāya attempts to stop him, just to find it empty: meanwhile Kaito invites Tarō to his house to take his father's sheets he wished to study, with the three mermaids joining them.
  • Similar to Episode 31, in the manga the Black Beauty Sisters use Hippo's Pearl Radar, which Caren dropped in Gackto's castle, to stalk her as she's searching for the palace; rather than simplying capturing one princess, they're waiting for her to bring them to the others.
  • In the manga, it's never shown that Tarō attended a concert of Kaito's father, nor he talks about any mail exchange with him, he simply says that his song reminds him of when he decided to travel to India after losing confidence in his craft during his college days.
  • Among the music sheets, Tarō finds photos of Kaito's childhood, but when Hanon starts looking for those of him as a baby, he remarks that there are none, possibily due to them getting lost as the family used to travel frequently: while Rina's doubts arise, she spots a letter addressed to Kaito between the pictures (a situation similar to Episode 38).
  • As the others leave, Lucia stays behind to help Kaito clean up the place and, as he expresses the feeling his parents were keeping a secret hidden from him, the two end up kissing.
  • The scene at Gackto's palace is entirely absent in the manga.
  • Just before his performance, Tarō is passed by Sara, leaving him bewildered by the realization.
  • Caren is also among the concert's audience.
  • The manga features the debut of Masahiro Hamasaki, who in the anime will instead only appear in Season 2: as the princesses start crying at Tarō's song, Kaito offers to grab Lucia a drink, while Masahiro hands over a napkin to Rina.
  • The Black Beauty Sisters burst through the concert hall, instead of fighting the princesses on the ocean.
  • In the manga, even the four mermaids united can't overwhelm the Black Beauty Sister, instead it's Sara, dressed in a long black dress with gloves and a choker, the one putting them to sleep and stopping the tsunami with her singing: before disappearing, she mocks the concept of love between a human and a mermaid, warning the princesses that when they'll next meet at Gackto's castle, it'll be "the end of the world".
  • As Tarō is declared the winner, the manga reveals the name of his piece is "Remembrance of the Mermaid's Ocean".
  • When Lucia finally reunites with Kaito by the vending machine, she notices his Panthalassa mark is still shining on his forehead.
  • The chapter ends with Caren finding the Sealing Key to Gackto's palace by the roadside.
