An Icy Kiss (冷たいキス Tsumetai Kisu) is the fifth episode of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch.
Plot[]
When a young pink dolphin named Momo is separated from his mother and placed in the local aquarium, Lucia and company journey there to offer their help.
Summary[]
It's Golden Week, Lucia cleans the house while Hanon sits relaxed. Nikora comes in asking Lucia if she is done vaccuming and forces Hanon to help Lucia. In the news, a pink dolphin, Momo-chan is in the aquarium after being stranded at the beach. Lucia and Hanon checked it out. Kaito, while surfing, found a dolphin who seems to be asking for help. When Lucia & Hanon arrived in the aquarium, they see alot of people --especially couples-- to see Momo-chan. Being sad of not having a "date", Hippo appears and tells them that they can't be left alone. Lucia and Hanon ask him why he wears a tux but doesn't answer. They lately found out why but Hippo answers they're right. After they found Momo-chan's pool location, they all end of in seperate ways. Hanon, thinking about her kingdom. She met with Rina whose also doing the same thing. Hidden in Momo-chan's pool is Izuru, who is responsible for Momo-chan's situation. Meanwhile, Hippo arrived in the pool with the penguins
Lucia, strolling around the aquarium seemed to be lost. In her worried state, she fell down the stairs only to know that she land on Kaito. When they arrived at Momo-chan's pool, Lucia used her power to talk to Momo-chan. In their conversation, it was halted by an announcement that a dolphin show is starting. Instead of a dolphin show, Izuru's water dragon appears and cause the people to scream. Lucia tells Kaito to watch over Momo-chan to confront the sea demon. Lucia happen to found Hanon & Rina and went to the source of the problem. They jumped to avoid Izuru's attack and transformed infront of the people to calm them. They sing Lucia's image song, Koi wa Nandarou for the audience telling that it's a special performance for the Golden Week. The performance made the people happy while it made Izuru retreat. After the performance, Momo-chan's mother appeared and warmed the hearts of the people.
As the aquarium is about to close, Rina & Hanon meet with Hippo, who seemed to escape the penguin pool. Kaito is still searching for Lucia, when suddenly she appeared in the aquarium in mermaid form, telling him to find him and leaving him with a kiss. Later, Kaito finally found Lucia and blamed on her because he couldn't find her. Momo and his mom appeared in front of them. Momo thanked Lucia for helping him find his mom.

- This is also the first episode the Mermaid Princesses appear as idols before the audience in a special event.
- This is the first Serbian episode to screen Koi wa Nandarou, as it was previously replaced with Legend of Mermaid.
Difference in Adaptation[]
- Chapter 04 of the manga that was adapted into this episode takes place at Christmas, while in the anime it's Golden Week, a spring holiday.
- In the manga Lucia is showing a santa-style outfit to Hanon, instead of cleaning the hotel, and the news about Momo isn't preceded by Jennifer Houston singing, as she's an anime-only character.
- Nikora (and not Madame Taki, who's not a main character in the manga) raises suspicion about the dolphin's safety and joins the princesses to their trip at the aquarium together with Hippo, who fantasises about all the female penguins he's going to meet there.
- As Kaito encounters Momo's mother, the Panthalassa mark on his forehead starts to shine.
- Given the difference in season between the manga and the anime, all the characters are dressed differently and Hippo doesn't wear a tophat.
- Lucia and Hippo only separate as she's watching the North Pacific section of the aquarium and the scene takes place before Hanon's visit to the South Atlantic section: in the manga the group hasn't split up, they simply went ahead leaving Lucia behind.
- Hanon's flashback has already taken place in Chapter 02 of the manga, as she returns home with the fish Taro gave her at the festival.
- Rina tells Hanon she regrets not having been able to help the South Atlantic kingdom, which makes Hanon realizes that by proximity the same fate befell on Rina's North Atlantic kingdom.
- Lucia falls off the ramp of stairs attempting to catch up with the others and ends up with her chest in Kaito's face, screaming at him in embarassment, to which he replies she's the one who fell on him.
- Hippo is captured by the guard on his way to regroup with Hanon and, instead of a giant female penguin being the bottom-line of this comedic subplot, all the female mates in the habitat are old and wrinkly in the manga.
- Kaito recalls of his encounter with Momo's mother to Lucia as they're outside his tank, with her pointing out how unusual is for a human to understand sea animals, foreshadowing the reveal of Kaito's true nature, as a flashback of the Panthalassa mark manifesting on his forehead during Taro's concert is shown.
- In the manga, Momo tells Lucia he was lured away by a strange object, with Lucia suspecting a plot by the Dark Lovers.
- The "dolphin showtime" starts off normally, being directed by the Aquarium staff itself, instead of Izuru.
- During Izuru's flashback, she's being scolded alongside Eriru and Yuri.
- As Lucia runs to stop Izuru, Momo bites Kaito's pants to keep him away from her and the Panthalassa mark appears once again on his forehead as he's conforting the dolpin.
- Lucia and Kaito's kiss through the glass takes place before the whole group reunites as the aquarium is closing.
- As Hippo is venting his frustation to Hanon and Rina, he explains it was Nikora who helped him out.
- Kaito reunites with Luchia outside the aquarium and pinches her nose jokingly, with her saddened that he has yet to realize her secret identity.
- The manga ends with Gackto, frustrated by Izuru's failure, foreshadowing the arrival of Maria.
