Minor Characters

Minor characters are characters that either appeared once or in few/some episodes in Mermaid Melody.

Anime[]

The Announcer[]

The Announcer is a minor character in the series. He tends to appear in episodes where Kaito takes part in a competition.

His hair colour is dirty blond(similar to Lucia's human hair) and always wear a pair of sunglasses making the audience unable to know what's the colour of his eyes are.

Saori[]

Saori (さおり) is the deceased wife of Maki.

Saori passed away ten years ago prior to the series. It is revealed in Episode 41 that Maki occasionally talks to the picture when he is alone, though Kaito overheard one of his conversations.

Saori has mid-length brown hair and a pale skin tone. She wears a violet shirt and a purple necklace.

Yoshino[]

Yoshino (佳乃) is a second year female student who is in the same class as Lucia, Hanon, Rina and Kaito. She is a recurring character, appearing in episodes that focus around the school with her two unnamed female classmates.

She makes her debut in episode 1 as a cameo, talking about how lucky Lucia is to talk with Kaito. In episode 7, she interacts with Lucia and Hanon, spreading the rumors of Ayaka being Kaito's new girlfriend. In episode 17, she, Lucia, Hanon, Kaito, Daiichi and Kengo visit a haunted house in the outskirts of their city. Yoshino asks Kaito to be her partner, with the latter agreeing, therefore disappointing Lucia. However, inside the mansion, Yoshino faints after Yuri pulls a trick with ghosts while playing piano.

Yoshino has dirty brown hair tied into twintails and brown eyes. She is mostly seen in her school uniform.

Yoshino is voiced by Madoka Kimura.

Mami[]

Mami (マミ) is a young girl who lives next to Pearl Piari. She is shown to be very fond of Hippo.

In episode 20, she appears in Pearl Piari to give a present to Hippo, which makes him very happy. Later, she is seen in Maki's restaurant to watch the meteor shower event.

Mami is a short girl who has pale yellow brownish hair kept in pigtails with black eyes.

Mami is voiced by Miyako Ito.

Ginko[]

Ginko (銀子) is a grown woman who is the owner of the legendary Mermaid Beads. Long ago, she fell in love with a boy who was about to die from an illness. After praying, a mermaid came forth and gave her the Mermaid Beads, with which she saved the boy from death. The boy, in accordance with the rumors, reciprocated her feelings and got married to each other. However, the truth is that the boy fell in love with another woman because Ginko never made the first move.

In episode 37, Ginko is out for a walk as she hear some female middle schoolers gossiping, which causes her to drop the Mermaid Beads. Later, she bumps to Lucia, who asks her about her early love life. She somehow finds herself at Lucia's school, where she hears Lucia, Hanon and Rina talking about the Mermaid Beads. She finds Hanon and Rina after wandering around the school's corridors, to who she explains that she was the woman of the rumors. After battling Yuri, Lucia gives back to Ginko her Mermaid Beads. In the end, Ginko leaves the Mermaid Beads in a rock after thanking the mermaid who gave her the bracelet.

Ginko has dirty brown hair tied to a bun. Her eyes are always closed.

Ginko is voiced by Setsu Oohashi.

Hoshi and Konno[]

Hoshi (星) and Kondo are two teachers at Lucia's school. They are dating and want to get married. Konno is popular among his female students whereas Hoshi is the exact opposite.

In episode 37, Hoshi found the Mermaid Beads at the school's corridors and later, when she met Kondo at the teachers' office, she touched him with the Mermaid Beads, which made everyone to believe that the rumor was real. Afterwards, Hoshi gives the Mermaid Beads to a cat and it's revealed that Kondo and Hoshi were already dating and soon will get married.

Hoshi has semi-dark brown hair and brown eyes and wears a pair of glasses. Kondo has brown spikey hair and brown eyes.

Hoshi is voiced by Mayumi Asano and Kondo by Yasuyuki.
