Mermaid Melody in Spain

Mermaid Melody in Spain refers to the Castilian Spanish dub of the anime. It aired in Spain.

On the 12th of November, 2021, it was announced that the 2002 manga would be recieving an official Spanish translation from publisher "Arechi Manga", to be released starting in early 2022.

Translation and Channels

The first season premiered on Clan TVE on June 30th, 2008 and ended on September 9th, 2008. Pure started airing on the next day, September 10th, and finished on November 3rd, 2008. The chosen timeslot was 19:30pm.

The second run in Spain occured on Disney Channel Spain on October 17th, 2011.

Spain was one of the first countries outside of Japan to screen a foreign version of the anime. It was also dubbed over the unreleased ADV English dub.

Censorship and Changes

Cuts

• The fourth opening sequence was replaced by the third one.
• A localized logo has been made specially for the dub. As well, every title card is adapted into Castilian Spanish.
• Eyecatches were omitted.

Music

• Only Taiyō No Rakuen, Daiji na Takarabako were dubbed and used. Like many dubs that only used these 2 songs for opening and ending songs, Sekai De Ichiban Hayaku Asa Ga Kuru Basho was dubbed in episodes 44 and 70 as an insert song.
• The speed of the opening was changed from NTSC to PAL.
• All songs were dubbed.
• The second run on Disney Channel redubbed Caren's solo singing scenes with a different voice actress.

Trivia

• The Castilian Spanish dub has been used as a base to the Greek, Turkish and European Portuguese dubs.
• For some unknown reason, the opening theme song (Taiyō no Rakuen ~Promised Land~) was high-pitched instead of being normal-pitched. This error also happened in the Greek dub.
